This new 4,000 square-foot residence provides a contemporary twist to the ranch style home of the West Texas Plains. Vistas of the pond and surrounding acreage are visible from every room due to an open floor plan.
The lady of the house, a photographer, requested a 1,000 square-foot photo studio that’s easily accessible from the main house but private enough for meeting clients.
This home was designed as a series of pavilions arranged to create a semi-enclosed courtyard that provides shelter from the winds and climate of West Texas that can be harsh at different times of the year.
Clean, simple building materials were used to meld the structure with its environment and provide for minimal maintenance.
Within the courtyard, there are continuous porches, which provide ample space for entertaining and any number of seating areas, for enjoying the pool, pond and vistas of West Texas but are warmed by a fireplace on chilly days.
